At Cooley Bay Winery & Brewery, mead holds a special place in our lineup—bridging ancient tradition with modern craftsmanship. Each of our meads is built from recipes that are complete, carefully refined, and fully realized before ever reaching the glass. We believe great mead is not rushed or improvised; it is thoughtfully designed, patiently fermented, and fine-tuned until balance, aroma, and flavor come together in harmony.
Our current mead offerings represent the culmination of that process. Every batch reflects deliberate choices in honey selection, fermentation technique, and aging, resulting in meads that are expressive, elegant, and approachable. While production today is intentionally focused and hands-on, we are excited to share that our mead program will expand its production capacity in 2026. This expansion will allow us to share more of what we create while preserving the quality and character that define Cooley Bay mead.

An exciting part of that growth is the addition of bottled releases. In addition to enjoying our meads on tap, our valued patrons will soon be able to take their favorites home, extending the Cooley Bay experience beyond our walls. Whether shared with friends or savored on a quiet evening, our bottled meads will offer the same care and craftsmanship found in every pour.
2025’s mead lineup highlighted both classic structure and creative expression. Our Traditional Dry Mead showcases pure honey character with a clean, crisp finish—an elegant expression of mead in its most timeless form. For those seeking depth and complexity, the Blueberry French Oaked Mead layers rich fruit notes with subtle oak influence, creating a rounded and contemplative drink. The Apricot Mead offers bright aromatics and soft fruit sweetness balanced by a refreshing finish, while our Bourbon Barrel Aged Mead delivers rich warmth, oak character, and layered complexity that rewards slow sipping.
